Liverpool’s League Cup final journey began in the third round when they saw off fellow Premier League outfit Norwich by three goals to nil.

Liverpool were then drawn against Championship outfit Preston North End in the 4^th round, whom they beat 2-0.

This was followed by a tough quarter-final clash with Leicester City. The match finished 3-3 after normal time and Liverpool eventually won via a penalty shootout.

Liverpool’s semi-final clashes then came against Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp’s side had the first leg postponed a week due to various issues within their squad before going on to claim a 2-0 win over the two legs.

Who did Chelsea beat to get to the League Cup final?

Chelsea’s route to the League Cup final was harder than Liverpool’s, with the Blues facing Premier League opposition every step of the way.

They would beat Aston Villa and then Southampton via penalties in the third and fourth rounds.

Chelsea then clinched a 2-0 win over Brentford in the quarter-final before seeing off Tottenham by three goals to none over two semi-final legs.
