On Monday, Celtic’s UEFA Europa Conference League squad was made public with Ange Postecoglou’s Bhoys only ten days away from embarking on a new European campaign.
Celtic will play their first-ever match in the Conference League against Bodo/Glimt next Thursday looking to make a significant impact on the competition.
Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and Daizen Maeda have all been added to the official squad, with Celtic only able to make three changes from their Europa League outfit last year.
Reo Hatate on the UEFA radar after lightning Celtic start
And it seems after their very successful Kyogo Furuhashi posts, which brought in mass engagement during the Europa group stages, UEFA sense a new Japanese star is about to take continental football by storm. They’ve Tweeted a ‘Reo Hatate appreciation post’ this afternoon.
Hatate will certainly have the platform to impress and who’d bet against him producing devastating displays against the Norwegian champions.
The Bodo/Glimt tie is far from easy. However, with Celtic firing on all cylinders and the visitors coming into a busy Celtic Park cold, hopes will be high we can put on a show and blow them away like we did Rangers.
Ange Postecoglou has recently spoken about the desire for Celtic to be recognised for playing good football not just in Scotland but beyond our borders. Strong performances in the Conference League would certainly see that happen, to begin with.
The Norwegians are also a progressive, forward-thinking team who have taken pride in going toe-to-toe against European outfits this season.
However, with a number of key players leaving and manager Kjetil Knutsen rebuilding his team, Celtic should be considered favourites to progress.
Supporters have responded strongly to ticket sales, with not many seats left for next Thursday. It could be another famous night under the lights for Celtic and Hatate.
