His return may not be music to the ears of all Spurs fans.
During his second spell at the club, the 32-year-old confirmed his plan was always to return to Madrid, claiming the main reason for the move back to England was to get him ready for Euro 2020.
But his former team-mate Jamie O’Hara claimed those comments were disrespectful to Tottenham.
O’Hara said on talkSPORT last March: “I don’t think he’s meaning to be disrespectful for Spurs and Spurs fans, because he’s done so well there over the years… but it was disrespectful.
