Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has drawn the ire of the club’s supporters on Monday, owing to a fresh set of post-Wolves quotes.
Conte’s comments surround the display of midfielder Harry Winks.
Afforded his latest start on Sunday afternoon, Winks lined out alongside January arrival Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park.
Spurs, of course, were ultimately condemned to an alarming 2-0 defeat in north London, with a large section of the Lilywhites’ fanbase, in turn, having pointed their frustrations in the direction of Winks.
This came owing to what many felt was just the latest in a string of sub-par individual performances on the part of the English international.

One individual, however, who evidently feels as though such criticism proved unwarranted was the aforementioned Antonio Conte.
Speaking in an interview with Tottenham’s official website on Monday, the Lilywhites’ headmaster was asked for his thoughts on the respective showings of Winks and midfield partner Bentancur versus Wolves.
And, after first hailing the efforts of winter addition Bentancur, Conte was quick to add that Winks, too, ‘played a good game’:
“He [Bentancur] played very well,” the Italian explained . “I think the two midfielders played very well today. Bentancur is a player who learned to manage to pressure with Juventus, because there is a lot of pressure at Juventus.
“You can see that, the way that he played the game, but also Winks played a good game.”
‘Watching a different game’
On the back of Conte’s comments making their way online, it therefore shouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise to hear of the Tottenham faithful quickly calling into question the judgement of the club’s boss.
In a series of posts across social media, Spurs’ fans have made their frustrations crystal clear once more, as the cracks begin to show amid Conte’s early efforts to guide the capital outfit into the Premier League’s top-4 and, in turn, the Champions League.
Is this joke? Winks has been dreadful, as he has been since 2019.

He’s definitely on the wind up now. Winks put in one of the worst performances 6ou will see all season from any midfielder in the league

Oh dear, another one fooled by Winks. Will we ever get rid of him ?

Bentacur yes but his words on winks?? I don’t believe he believes that and if he does and this continues it will start to infuriate many fans. Prime Stefan Freund was better than winks.
