Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has vowed to make Harry Kane impossibly good – by turning him into a 120 percent player in every position.
The England captain said at the weekend after his two goals helped put Brighton out of the FA Cup that he has never been fitter.
And Conte believes Kane can get better too – by focusing more on the no. 9 role after playing more of a no. 10 under Jose Mourinho.
“It is not easy to improve a player of this level but at the same time I think that Harry is improving a lot in his position,” Conte said.
“Every single player can improve until the end when he decides to stop his career.
“We’re talking about a really good person who shows desire every day during training sessions.
“He’s available with his teammates and is always ready to speak about football, to try to improve and also to see new tactical situations.
“At the moment with us he is playing much more like a No.9. In the past I have seen him a lot, often to go outside the box.
“He is very good outside, because he is also a No.10 and he has this quality to pass the ball and to make an assist.
“But at the same time he can shoot and score and he has improved a lot in his position to be a strong No.9.
“He is improving a lot in the duels with his opponent, to defend the ball and, in my opinion, he is becoming a complete player.
“120 per cent in fact.
“He is a player that at this moment can play in every team of the world and could be their striker.”
Eric Dier is still struggling with injury at the other end of the pitch, which means a continuing place against Southampton on Wednesday for Cristian Romero, who impressed at the weekend.
Although he is technically at White Hart Lane on loan for the season, the club have an obligation to buy at the end of the season but already Conte is certain that will not be a problem.
“This league is a perfect suit for him,” Conte said. “The intensity, the quality, the physicality that you have here is not present in the other leagues.”
