Eddie Howe has held his latest pre-match press conference ahead of Newcastle’s clash with Brentford.
The Magpies will face off with Brentford on Saturday in a 3 pm kick-off.
Ahead of the tie, Howe discussed a number of topics in his presser, including team news.
And in something of a boost for Newcastle, Howe confirmed they will make a late call on Allan Saint-Maximin: “We’re going to make a late call on him – he’s been away getting intensive treatment. We said when he suffered the injury, it wouldn’t be long-term so we’re keeping our fingers crossed on him.”

Javier Manquillo also looks as though he is closing in on a return: “Manquillo came through a couple of training sessions this week. I wouldn’t say he’s 100 per cent fit but he’s certainly getting closer to being fit and available.”

Brentford vs Newcastle
Newcastle head into the Brentford game having dramatically improved their form since the January window.
The North East outfit are now undefeated in five league ties and, as a result, have moved out of the relegation zone.
That may only be temporary, though, as Burnley have a game in hand on Newcastle and are just one point behind them right now. As a result, Newcastle really cannot afford to slip up vs Brentford.
And, on recent form at least, a Newcastle win does seem very likely. Brentford have slipped down to 14th in the Premier League and are winless in five.
The Bees are also in danger of being sucked into the relegation battle as they have just 24 points from 22 games – only two more than Newcastle who have played two fewer games.
