Highlights of Leeds United’s U23 outfit putting three goals past their Liverpool counterparts without reply have come to the fore on Monday evening.
The Whites’ latest crop of up-and-coming talent kicked their underwhelming campaign back into gear at Elland Road, hopeful of just a 4th victory of the campaign to climb clear of the likes of Chelsea and Blackburn in the Premier League 2 table.
And, when all was said and done, emerge triumphant is precisely what Mark Jackson’s men managed, in some style.
The evening’s scoring was opened inside the half-hour mark, when a fine move from deep inside Leeds’ half ultimately culminated in Jack Jenkins finishing on the rebound:

Next on target was Crysencio Summerville, who slotted home from the penalty spot in confident fashion after Liverpool’s Owen Beck was given his marching orders ten minutes from time:

And a 2nd spot-kick of the night saw some gloss added to the scoreline late on, as Max Dean, on this occasion, picked out the same corner as Summerville before him, to round out a fine night’s work on the part of the Peacocks’ U23s.

Bamford blow
Turning attentions back towards the senior setup in west Yorkshire, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds will of course be hopeful of securing a similarly impressive result upon their return to Premier League action this coming midweek.
The Whites are set to make the trip to Villa Park on Wednesday night, for a meeting with Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.
Any such efforts to carve out what would prove an unexpected three points in Birmingham, however, will come with Leeds still unable to call on star hitman Patrick Bamford.
This comes after Marcelo Bielsa confirmed on Monday that the English international remains sidelined with a foot injury:
🗣 “It depends on the pain going away so he can start jogging again.”
