According to Dutch outlet Telegraaf, Newcastle United are interested in Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.
Newcastle have apparently been watching the player’s development very closely in recent times, and apparently they, along with Manchester United, are very excited about the full-back’s ability.
The defender certainly has what it takes to make it at the highest level. After all, he made the UEFA Conference League Team of the Season this year, and you don’t earn an accolade like that without a few standout performances.
Of course, Malacia’s Feyenoord were runners-up in the inaugural Conference League competition, but they sadly fell short against Roma in the final.

Interestingly, Newcastle have already signed a left-back in this window, bringing Matt Targett in permanently from Aston Villa, and if Malacia is a genuine target, you have to imagine that Jamal Lewis will be sweating over his future at St James’ Park after missing out on the Magpies’ 25-man squad last season.
Unfortunately for the Tyneside club, they’re not the only team in for Malacia, Manchester United are also keen, while Lyon could also swoop for the Netherlands international.
Of course, Lyon and United can offer the Dutchman European football next term, but at the age of just 22, Malacia could also play a part in building Newcastle’s long-term project, and eventually, silverware and European football will follow.
The left-footer has plenty of room to improve in the coming years, and if Newcastle can pick him up for the reported fee of between €15-20m, they could be getting a real bargain.
