Newcastle and Tottenham have been sent a warning over transfer target Sven Botman as the Dutchman’s agent was reportedly spotted watching AC Milan. Botman has been linked with Premier League clubs for over a year but they could now miss out.
Both Newcastle and Tottenham were keen to reinvigorate their back lines under their new head coaches.
Eddie Howe had been concerned by the amount of goals his Newcastle side were conceding as they stared at a potential relegation despite October’s eye-watering takeover.
Meanwhile, Antonio Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo and faced repairing a disjointed defence.
Botman was linked with both clubs in January but remained at Lille, with the reigning Ligue 1 champions unwilling to sell their star defender.
And now, the 22-year-old’s agent has given a hint at his possible destination.
According to Italian journalist Antonio Vitiello, Botman’s agent Nikkie Bruinenberg took in AC Milan’s Serie A clash with Lazio at the San Siro.
The agent would have had the opportunity to speak with the club’s management staff. Directors Paulo Maldini and Massara were also in attendance.

Botman had been linked with Liverpool in the previous January but the Reds did not appear to show any interest this year.
That was when Jurgen Klopp’s side had been devastated by a major injury crisis and desperately needed new defenders.
The Anfield outfit added Ibrahima Konate to their squad in the summer and likely felt that they did not need further defensive reinforcement, with Virgil van Dijk not showing any sign of further damaging the ACL injury that kept him out for most of 2020-21.
It could now be the case that Newcastle and Spurs battle it out with AC Milan for Botman’s signature.
