Arteta is already set to be one of the busiest managers in the transfer market ahead of next year’s Premier League campaign, with reports indicating that the Spaniard is eyeing two strikers, a central midfielder and a right-back to bolster his squad.
If Arteta does decide that now is the time to part ways with Xhaka, then it’s likely that Arsenal would need to source another midfielder to replace the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach ace – leaving the club with even more work to do in the summer.
To further complicate matters, the Gunners are also set to lose Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who has less than six months remaining on his current deal.
Elneny is reportedly attracting interest from a host of European clubs after his recent performances in the Africa Cup of Nations.
