The Terriers are unbeaten in their last 12 Championship games and are hoping to return to the top flight for the first time since 2019.
According to TEAMtalk, West Ham have entered the fray to sign the youngster, but face competition from Leeds United, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Norwich to land him.
O’Brien signed a new four-year contract last summer but his deal includes a £12million release clause.
So if the Hammers are happy to shell out that kind of money, he could well be making his way to the London Stadium later this year.
