A summer exit appears increasingly inevitable despite Kessie expressing his desire to remain in Milan while representing the Ivory Coast at the Olympic Games last summer.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kessie said: “I am proud to have chosen Milan and it is not my intention to leave. On the contrary, I want to stay forever (in Milan).
“Now I am focused on the Olympic Games, but when I come back I will fix everything. I just want Milan, Maldini and Massara know how I feel.
“I love when the ultras sing ‘a President, there is only one President’. I want to be one for life, at least in football.’
To say tensions have become fraught since then would be an understatement.
