Liverpool continued their hot streak in the league on Thursday night with a strong 2-0 win at home to Leicester with Diogo Jota bagging a brace. The Portugal international has been a revelation since his arrival from Wolves in 2020.

They now sit as Manchester City’s closest rivals for the title heading into the final third of the season.

While Pep Guardiola’s side boasts the best defensive record of anyone in the Premier League, Liverpool possess arguably the best attacking unit in all of Europe.

Only Bayern Munich have scored more goals than Liverpool’s 60 in Europe’s top-five leagues.

Mohamed Salah has been a huge part of that with the Egypt international enjoying yet another stellar season in front of goal having joined for £34million back in 2017.

Sadio Mane is also having a strong campaign and his win at the Africa Cup of Nations will undoubtedly give him even more confidence having been a part of Liverpool’s squad since his £30m arrival back in 2016.

While Roberto Firmino has struggled to replicate the kind of form in front of goal as his attacking team-mates, the Brazilian is seen as the glue which holds things together up top.

Those three players, at one stage, looked to be immovable from the starting line-up just a few years ago.

The attacking trio of Salah, Mane and Firmino helped Liverpool to win the Champions League in 2019 before picking up the league title a year later.

When Jota was signed 18 months ago for £45m, some eyebrows were raised on how Jota would break the mould at Anfield.

But he hit the ground running and has maintained that spectacular form this season to give Klopp certain selection decisions in important games.

The same has been asked about Luis Diaz after his £37m arrival from Porto last month, but a superb cameo appearance at the weekend in the FA Cup followed by an impressive full Premier League debut last night has every Liverpool excited about what’s to come.

Mane has now arrived back from his AFCON victory with Senegal and could be in contention to return to the starting line-up against Burnley on Sunday.

But the away trip to Turf Moor will provide Klopp with something he’s never experienced as Anfield boss before.

Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino and the now-departed Xherdan Shaqiri had been the original go-to replacements in Liverpool’s attacking line-up were Salah, Mane or Firmino to be rested.

They’ve now made significant upgrades with both Diaz and Jota capable of stepping in without Liverpool losing any of their dynamism in the final third.

Two of the five attackers will be benched in every game, giving Klopp a small headache in trying to keep everybody happy.

Pep Guardiola has made it work wonders at Manchester City with the Spaniard keeping his rival managers second guessing with who he will choose to start from Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus.

Klopp now has that same power heading into the final third of the season with all four trophies still on the line.

The momentum is there for Liverpool to challenge on all fronts and, with a host of world-class attacking options now at his disposal, Klopp will be expected to win some silverware this year.

But the Liverpool boss will first have to work out a way to keep everybody happy while not damaging the system he has in place.
