Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly ‘insistent’ on signing Barcelona midfielder Gavi and knows he can attempt to do so for a cut-price fee – much to the annoyance of Blaugrana chiefs.

Gavi, 17, joined Barcelona from Real Betis as an 11-year-old, coming through the famous La Masia academy.

He made his debut at the start of the season and has since racked up 26 appearances for the first-team.

The club has continuously undergone change this season, amidst the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dani Alves, Ferran Torres and Adama Traore.

But throughout the uncertainty, Gavi has retained his place in the first team ahead of Barcelona’s other stars.

Liverpool’s midfielders have blossomed this season, with Thiago and Fabinho particularly impressing.

And according to Mundo Deportivo, they could add to their contingent with the cut-price signing of Gavi becoming a possibility.

The report states that rumours started to surface over the weekend detailing Liverpool’s interest in the Spaniard.

Having only turned 17 at the start of the season, Gavi has become one of the youngest players to ever wear the famous red and blue and is Spain’s youngest ever player.

Gavi has just 18 months left on his contract and his current agreement means he has a release clause of around just £42million.

Manchester United are also said to be showing interest in defender Ronald Araujo, who has also been linked to Liverpool.

The Reds currently sit second in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Manchester City with a game in hand.

They take on Leicester on Thursday in a bid to close the gap between them and the Citizens.
