The table doesn’t lie and after just one league win all season, Burnley are primed to slip through the trapdoor to the Championship in May.

But on the evidence of this display, Dyche’s men do at least still have a fighting chance of upsetting the odds and retaining their Premier League status.

Liverpool’s vulnerabilities

Liverpool may still be in the race to clinch their second title in three years, but the caveat for the Reds is that they look alarmingly vulnerable at the back right now.

During the title-winning 2019/20 campaign, teams were barely able to lay a glove on Klopp’s side as they surged to their first top-flight crown in 30 years.

And while Liverpool are right in the mix to follow up that title triumph with another this term, they have looked mightily shaky at the back.

While the Reds high line is hardly new and integral to Klopp’s ‘heavy metal’ brand of football, it’s also been their downfall on numerous occasions this term.

Burnley constantly found joy with the simple ball over the top and, in reality, they should have made the most of the raft of chances they created.

The worry for Liverpool is that better teams than Burnley will have the quality to punish them in the months ahead.
