Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be the key catalyst in a move for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham – with former England and Reds keeper David James claiming the midfielder’s future could lie at Anfield if the German stays at the helm.
Bellingham, 18, joined Dortmund in 2020 for a fee of around £25million from Birmingham City after making over 40 appearances for the Blues before he turned 17.
He has become a prominent player in Germany, making 76 appearances in his 18 months at the Signal Iduna Park.
Having played at Euro 2020, Bellingham’s progression at such a young age has reportedly piqued the interest of Europe’s top teams, including Liverpool.
With an ageing midfield, the Reds could aim to replace Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with his services.
“He fits the profile of a person that would suit Liverpool. When you look at what Liverpool have got and what they’ve got coming through and how things are set up, then the only question that you’d have to ask if you’re Jude is how long is Jürgen Klopp going to be there.
“I imagine that would have an influence when it comes to him choosing his next club and the same can be said for Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel at Manchester City and Chelsea respectively as those two sides are reportedly interested too.
“Everything at Liverpool is solid and Manchester City likewise but that’s heavily dependent on Pep Guardiola being there.
“With Chelsea, in two years time, you can imagine that they’ll have a different manager.”
The Reds currently sit second in the Premier League, nine points behind Manchester City who are looking to reclaim the Premier League title.
Klopp’s men take on Inter Milan at the San Siro on Wednesday evening as they look to better last season’s quarter-final exit at the hands of Real Madrid.
And with the club having won the 2019 edition of the tournament, they will look to defeat Inter to keep alive hope of winning their seventh title.
