Chelsea have been dealt some concerning personnel news on Tuesday the 15th of February with Mason Mount set for a spell on the sidelines.
Mason Mount was in action for Chelsea last weekend when the Blues managed to clinch their first-ever Club World Cup trophy, meaning they have now won every major trophy available to them.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, Mount would pick up an injury in the clash and is now set for some time out.
How long will Mason Mount be out for? According to football.london, Mason Mount is expected to miss at least two weeks with the ankle injury he suffered during the Club World Cup final.
How many games will Mason Mount miss whilst out injured?
At least two weeks would take us to the 28th of February at a minimum.
This means that Mount is seemingly certain to miss Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on the 19th and their first Champions League Round of 16 tie with French outfit Lille on Tuesday the 22nd of February.
And there does look to be a real chance that Mount is not back in time for the 2022 League Cup final.
Chelsea will face off with Liverpool at Wembley on the 27th of February at 4:30 pm UK time in said final.
And with the 27th only one day over two weeks from when Mount first picked up the injury, it seems likely that he will not be back in time and even if he is, he will probably not be fit enough to take part in or start the clash. This would be a major blow for the Blues.
Chelsea’s first game after the final is an FA Cup 5th round tie with Luton Town on March 2nd.
