Chelsea loanee Armando Broja has been tipped to challenge for a first-team spot next season after scoring again for Southampton. The Albania international has been one of the surprise stars of the season and Glenn Hoddle wants to see Blues boss Thomas Tuchel use the striker next term.

Broja was loaned to Southampton in the summer following a successful campaign during a temporary spell at Dutch side Vitesse.

It was a rare move by Chelsea and a sign of how highly they rate the 20-year-old. The Stamford Bridge outfit often send their youngsters to EFL sides after returning from affiliate club Vitesse – and not straight into the Premier League.

And Broja continued to impress for the Saints on Wednesday night, scoring in their thrilling 3-2 win over Tottenham.

The in-form forward snuck a first-time finish into the near post to equalise after Jan Bednarek’s own goal.

And former Blues player and manager Hoddle suggested that Broja could play a role at Chelsea next season despite Tuchel’s wealth of attacking talent.

“It’s a lovely instinctive finish from Broja. He’s looked dangerous, Broja, all day,” Hoddle said while covering the game for BT Sport.

“He’s such a good striker. You wonder if he’s going to go back to Chelsea at one stage and become a Chelsea player for next season.”

Tuchel has already heaped praise on Broja, with wide-ranging reports suggesting that Southampton want to make his deal permanent.

The Austrian added: “It is important he knows this and that his agent knows this.

“We have a good relationship with Chelsea and are in good contact. He is their player. We have tried to develop him here, and I think we have.

“If they think we should do it another year and do not want to sell him in the summer, then there is no better spot to be.

“It is not always in our hands and if he or the club have any other ideas, it is how it is.”
