Brendan Rodgers drops huge Man Utd hint with new house purchase despite Leicester woes | Football | Sport

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly dropped a huge hint that he could be set to take over as Manchester United boss after the Northern Irishman bought a house in Wilmslow – just 13 miles away from Old Trafford. United are on the lookout for a permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked in November.

United have built a star-studded squad and were expected to launch an assault on the Premier League title at the start of the campaign.

But following a strong start, the wheels soon fell off at Old Trafford and the team quickly dropped down the table.

In the autumn, the Red Devils suffered a dismal run of form, during which time they lost five out of seven Premier League matches.

That culminated in a 4-1 thumping at the hands of Watford – and proved the tipping point for Solskjaer, who was axed the following day.

The 13-times Premier League champions then appointed former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick as their interim boss until the end of the season.

Rodgers’ new penthouse is in the same postcode as the likes of Marcus Rashford and would make an ideal base for any United manager, according to the Sun.

If the 49-year-old remains at Leicester, he will certainly face a lengthy commute down to the east Midlands.

The Foxes have struggled for form this season and have fallen to 13th in the Premier League table.

They have won just three of their last 12 top flight matches and are only nine points ahead of the drop zone.
