Spanish giants FC Barcelona have this evening been dealt a blow on the personnel front, during the club’s showdown with Espanyol.
The player to have been forced out of proceedings prematurely? Ronald Araujo.
Barca, a short time ago, reemerged for the 2nd-half of their latest crunch derby outing, eyeing an improved 2nd-half showing.
Such efforts, however, will have to come without the contributions of the aforementioned Araujo. This comes with the Uruguayan international having not reemerged with the rest of Xavi Hernandez’s squad following the interval.
As confirmed by the Blaugrana themselves, Araujo’s premature withdrawal comes owing to a calf issue, the extent of which is yet to be determined:

De Tomas turns it around
Turning attentions back towards the scoreline at the RCDE Stadium, Araujo’s 2nd-half absence, as things stand midway through the 2nd-half of action, appears as though it could well cost Barca dear.
This comes with the Catalans having seen their early advantage in the clash not only cancelled out by Sergi Darder’s equaliser late in the first-half, but completely wiped out by an Espanyol go-ahead goal just beyond the hour mark.

Raul de Tomas, altogether unsurprisingly, proved the man on target 2nd time round for the hosts, continuing his run of directly contributing to over 50% of Espanyol’s goals across the La Liga campaign courtesy of a typically composed finish beyond Marc-André ter Stegen:
