Arsenal could be forced into the summer transfer market if Bukayo Saka snubs the inevitable offer of a new contract to join Liverpool or Manchester City. While Mikel Arteta is understandably keen to keep hold of the 20-year-old, the Premier League’s leading duo are both reportedly monitoring his situation, which could make Champions League qualification absolutely crucial for the Gunners. If they miss out and Saka caves into temptation, Express Sport analyses four potential summer targets they could turn to: 

Ousmane Dembele

The Frenchman is still amongst the most expensive signings of all time, having switched to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for a package that could total £136million. 

Injuries have stunted any sign of momentum though, and the Blaugrana could be given a final kick in the teeth if he leaves for free at the end of the season. 

Contract negotiations have reportedly been going on for months, but after January came and went without an agreement, it now seems likely that he will make way. 

And north London could be his destination if Arteta fancies putting together a tempting contract offer for a player lacking in form, but brimming with talent.

Allan Saint-Maximin

On Tuesday evening, Saint-Maximin again showed exactly what he is all about with a mesmerising individual display against Everton. 

Given his importance to Newcastle, who are presumed to be a rising power in English football, a summer deal would almost entirely depend on their relegation from the Premier League. 

The Frenchman has a great relationship with Magpies fans, so switching St James’ Park for the Emirates would be unlikely in any other circumstance. 

But one way or the other, the 24-year-old is destined to play towards the top end of the division sooner or later.
