Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has fired back at Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves after the Portuguese international criticised the Gunners’ celebrations following their 1-0 win at Molineux on Thursday night. Mikel Arteta’s side managed to dig in and grind out a vital victory despite playing the final 21 minutes plus stoppage time with 10 men following Gabriel Martinelli’s controversial red card.
The Brazilian was handed two yellows within the same sequence of play by Michael Oliver, whose decision has faced plenty of criticism from the Arsenal camp.
Elsewhere, others within the game have praised the referee’s innovative approach to applying the laws of the game.
Nonetheless, it was not the only talking point of the match and Wolves felt Arsenal’s winner – that came courtesy of Gabriel Magalhaes – should have been ruled out for a foul on Jose Sa.
It was a point Neves made after the game as he also hit out at the way Arsenal celebrated the victory.

He tweeted: “It’s called passion, Mr Neves. If you lot had showed a bit more of it, you wouldn’t have lost 1-0 at home to a side with only 10 men. So pipe down.”
The 56-year-old was also recently critical of Arteta’s handling of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was stripped of the captaincy in December before being shown the exit door in January.
Aubameyang sealed a free transfer to Barcelona after the Gunners agreed the mutual termination of the 32-year-old’s contract.
The decision sickened Morgan, who did not agree with Arteta’s determination to cast his former skipper aside.
“Shameful decision by Arteta,” Morgan tweeted following the completion of Aubameyang’s move to Barcelona.
“What a disgusting way to treat a man who went – with the club’s full knowledge and permission – to help his sick mother.”
